New wordcount goal and a gratuitous meter
So now that I've hit 50K, the new goal is to reach 75K before SarahJanet. At last count, I was ahead of her by aboout 6,000 words. It's looking like each part of the book is going to be about 30,000 words, and I'm going to have to whittle Part I down quite a bit when I get to it.
I'm aiming for roughly 5,000 words a day. I did slightly less than that yesterday, but today I'm going to try to procrastinate less and write more. I spent a lot of time yesterday figuring out plot points in my notebook, so it wasn't a total loss. There were things I needed to work out before I could write them, especially since the events in the last two parts of the novel took me by surprise when I wrote them. I wasn't planning on killing off those particular characters just yet, but the opportunity presented itself and I took it.
Now I have to get the characters out of the Canadian Tire. They didn't want to go in, and now they don't want to come out. Bah.
In the meantime, I'm going to play with my wordcount meter:
