New goal time!

So I made 80K a few minutes ago. Go me! Time for a new wordcount goal, which will be 90K. I love reaching wordcount goals. It means I can post my worcount meter:

80,071 / 90,000 (89.0%)

I just killed off a character I hadn't realized I'd gotten attached to. I hate it when my own characters make me bawl like a calf when I write them. For one, it slows down the writing process because I can't see well enough to type. Also, it makes it really hard to kill them off when the time comes. Technically, the guy isn't dead yet (just as good as dead), and I'm going to need to write his death scene. Dammit, I'm not supposed to care about this guy! He's a necessary plot device, and I need him to die in order to get on with the story, but suddenly I like him a whole lot and I don't really want him to die. AUGH!

*sigh*

Oh well. With any luck, my own distress at killing him will translate to the readers, in which case it'll have been worth it.

Zombies. Yick. 'Death scenes' and 'as good as dead' in a zombie book are just chilling things to consider.

Now I'm worried, because I don't know who you're killing off, and even plot devices can feel pain when push comes to hacking off the zombie head.

Well, now you know. I don't know what it is about that poor little character that I managed to ignore for several chapters, but he just came back and broke my heart. Argh.
